little miss sunshine

Today my shift was at 4pm, so normally I would tend to wake up a little bit later like 12pm. But I woke up at 10am today without any external arousal. I was in the middle of a dream where I ordered some Japanese food from this stall and after a really long time, they're still not ready with my food. I was really annoyed, maybe that's why I woke up! Haha.. even in my dreams, I'm thinking of food. So I decided I must have Jap food for lunch today. Then, Golden Mile came to my mind. Quite some time back, Strait Times featured this Jap stall in Golden Mile called Mansaku - wanted to try it for a while but didn't have the chance. So here we are...

The queue was long, it was about 20 mins queue. During this 20 mins, I was observing how the 2 stallowners work. They were so engrossed, and so dedicated. I'm glad their hard work paid off. I'm not so sure why this jap food is so popular though. It tastes nice but nothing extraordinary, and it's also not that cheap. But they are part of the growing population of "posh" stalls in food centres, so I guess that's the hype. Another "posh" stall is The Sweet Stone which sells belgian waffles and fondue.

The royal claypot fondue set, $14.70. The unique feature of Belgian waffle is that it has small sugar cubes within it, which makes it sweet and crunchy.

Yesterday, Bin and I decided to go to Plaza Sing to try the recently featured Saybon - which sells takeaway soups. I'm on a mission to find the best mushroom soup in Singapore. So far, I think the best I've tried is the one in Friends@Serangoon gardens.

You could choose to sip the soup, but we preferred to use the spoon to drink it.

Seafood Bisque and Mushroom soup. The former was not bad, but a little sandy tasting. You could taste the lobster. The Mushroom soup is not bad. If it's a little thicker, it would be better.

And not forgetting.. I got a new phone. Dearest Bin bought it for me!
