Starting from yesterday, Shangri-la hotel is having this "Flash Your Age" promotion, meaning that 8 people max can have food discount equivalent to the age of the birthday person present there. In other words, if the birthday person is 50 years old on that day, you get 50% discount from the food bill (excluding drinks), and if he/she is 100 years old, you eat for free, and if he/she is above 100, they pay you money! (kidding about the last part, haven't verify!)

So, very fortunately, yesterday was my mother-in-law's birthday. As there was quite a substantial amount of discount (sorry age undisclosed as it is sensitive!), we decided to go Shang Palace and take the $128 per person menu! haha very very greedy, haha

Not a frequent eater in atas chinese restaurant, we were wowed from the entrance, to the lightings, to even the tea cup and glass they used to put my ice water. Haha...

This holds the types of tea available in Shang Palace. Feels like the Suan Qian (fortune- telling) in Chinese temple.

Here comes the 8-course meal (the name of our menu is Silver Needle)

1st dish - Lobster salad, mango - yummy!

Photobucket
2nd dish - double-boiled superior shark's fin soup, shark's bone, cabbage - very thick broth! so different

Photobucket
3rd dish - braised whole abalone, imperial style (5 head quality) - yummy and too small! haha

Photobucket
4th dish - lamb chop grilled, sichuan pepper (yummy!)

Photobucket
5th dish - baked cod fish in miso sauce (yummy! there was cheese at the top)

Photobucket
6th dish - fragrant rice, preserved meat served in clay pot (this one totally spoiled my appetite! it's so salty! luckily the next one is dessert)

Photobucket
7th and 8th dish - double-boiled hasma, red lotus seed, red date, ginseng (yummy!) and sweet fancy duets (a mango mochi and a nutty biscuit-like dessert)

At the end, there was also a complimentary birthday cake.
